Mary A. Dobbins School is a state approved private special education school that serves students age 10-21 in grades 5 through 12. The school delivers a comprehensive education program to best meet the personal academic, behavioral and social needs of its student population as specified in each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Student IEPs are developed cooperatively by the sending school district and Mary A. Dobbins School staff at child study team meetings.
We offer small class sizes with teachers and paraprofessionals who provide small groups and individualized instructional instruction to students according to their cognitive levels. Our middle and high school students receive core subject instruction in mathematics, science, language arts and social studies, in addition to physical education and health, life skills, and art. We also offer students a variety of career explorations and pre-vocational experiences for them to prepare for life after graduation. Speech and language, occupational therapy, and physical therapy services are also available based on a student’s needs. We also offer 12-month special education programming with our extended school year program in July and August.
